1 Peter 1:10

Here we have a text telling us that the prophets have inquired and searched carefully regarding the salvation of our souls.  They also are the ones who prophesied of the grace that would come to you.

This is something that I have missed.  We think about the old testament and how the prophets told the people how to live life best as well as to warn when the people were not living in a good way.  The prophets also were doing their best to learn about God's Son and His work to save us.  I can imagine when I was in college with a research paper.  I would be in the library pulling more books than I could carry off the shelves and dragging them to a study room.  Buried there for hours at a time, I went through each determining which books were actually useful and what made each different from the others.  The prophets would have been tackling something far more important so I am sure that they utilized every resource, human or divine, that they could to better understand the salvation of our souls.

This leads us to the next one.  God was definitely a part of their lives because He spoke through them to give future generations hope.  He prophesied through the prophets about the salvation of the soul.  Of His Grace for us.
