James 5:7

James 5:7 - We went from texts talking about not judging others to a slightly new angle.  Being patient.  It says in this text that we are to be patient for the "coming of the Lord."  It uses the illustration of a farmer patiently waiting while his plants to grow.   The fruit of the earth has to be nourished with early rain and then more rain later on.

I would dare to say that many characters in the Bible were not patient nor waited for God's will.  Abraham wanted a son sooner rather than later.  Jacob wanted the birthrate sooner rather than later.  Thank goodness David waited to let God give him Israel instead of killing Saul the many times he could have.  Thank goodness that Joseph didn't try to gain more with Potipher's wife, instead trusting God to guide his future.

Things might seem to have happened at a timely moment for you to "seize the day."  You might feel like you are justified in forming the opinions on others that you want to form.  It may seem fair to call someone names and give them titles such as "liar" or "hypocrite" with the mental thought that they have no feelings to hurt (or no right to feelings in the first place.)  All of those things are wrong.

It is God who judges, and it is God who will take care of us and bring us to a better future.  You have to pray, listen, and trust in Him.
