"Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ."
~ 1 Peter 1:13
This is saying pretty clearly to zip up the pants (or tie up your shoes) of your mind. Don't let things outside that don't belong enter. You have to be clear-headed and able to reason or think. This is important. Why do you think there is laws against drunk driving? It doesn't work to dump a lot of alcohol into a person and expect them to be as reliable as someone who only had water.
Quick Note: Revelation can be defined as "a surprise or previously unknown fact, esp. one made in a dramatic way."
So Jesus Christ can be revelation. Jesus is a surprise that became known in a dramatic way.
I see two layers of an onion here and I don't know which one is the top layer and which one is underneath it, so I will lay both before you.
The first is this: When we first learn about Jesus, we get that grace that only He can bring us.
The second is: When Jesus returns again, that hope that we have had is fulfilled because His grace is what saved us and is allowing us to live in such holy presence.
I'm horrible with words and not sure I was able to get across there what I was trying to. However, those are my thoughts. Feel free to share your own.
