1 Peter 1:12

Review: the prophets from the Old Testament were searching carefully for what time and manner Jesus would come in order to save our souls.

"To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent heaven - things which angels desire to look into."

~1 Peter 1:12

The prophets learned in their studies and from God that they were not writing down their thoughts for themselves or their generation.  That everything they were learning was for in the future.  The things they wrote then happened exactly as they wrote it when Jesus came.  Then those who preached the gospel by the power of the Holy Spirit confirmed that everything pertaining to Jesus was foretold in the Old Testament.

But that isn't the best part.  What we learn about Jesus and the salvation of our souls is a topic that greatly interests the angels.  This privilege that we have to study God's word is something they "desire to look into."

Yet how many times do we get home from work and sit down in front of the TV or computer.  Pull out a novel or another hobby instead of doing that which is in our power and ability to do that angels are envious of.  I am greatly guilty of this.

I also have a question, why are angels so desirous to look into the message of the gospels?  Isn't their questions answered pertaining to Jesus' love for humanity and His desire to save every soul He can?  Something that leaves me miffed I am afraid.
