"Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you;"
The first word of this verse is "Beloved," not another name. It is addressed to you as someone who is cared about deeply and loved so much. So you know that whatever follows is for your benefit and not for your harm.
When bad things happen, we are not supposed to think it weird or strange. Bad stuff happens to the godly and ungodly alike after all. It isn't usual or strange. Something instead to be expected.
Again, we are not told bad stuff will happen out of some twisted amusement, but because God wants us to know and trust Him.
